Our handcrafted furniture is made from distinctive slid woods, steel, and other unique materials. Solid woods that we are using are either reclaimed or agricultural wood. We enjoy using the unique textures and colors of the materials both in contrast and as a complement to each other.

We bear something in mind when we reclaim the sources of our livelihood: we hope to still be useful when we're old. And look really, really good. Working with wood is what we do! We take great care in making sure all the details are always taken seriously and our products show that love.

We care about the environment. We only use Agricultural/Sustainable Wood.

Sustainable wood comes from sustainably managed forests. It’s renewable because the forest stewards manage the landscape to prevent damage to eco-systems, watersheds, wildlife and the trees themselves, taking a long term rather than short term view of the resource.

Just 8% of the world’s forest is properly protected from destruction. The timber industry is insatiable, as is our demand for wood. And much of the time it’s harvested unsustainably despite the best efforts of conservationists, governments and lawmakers. Sadly, money often speaks louder than common sense and today is often more important than the future. In Malaysia, for example, timber production demands more trees than there are in existence. In some areas there are no trees left and wood is being smuggled in from Indonesia to meet demand.

We embrace japanese joinery. Japan is famous for its wood and joinery techniques, and it’s not rare to hear that wood in Japan has a soul. The combination of the most advanced joinery skills and beautiful design that goes from being very simple to very complex, creates not only a wonderful decorative feature, but also a functional piece of design.

Japanese joinery techniques focus on creation of interlocking joints that join together carefully selected pieces of wood. For centuries, Japan has been developing their techniques which are today one of the most advanced ones.

RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL

With many talented hands in our KAIU Workshop, we are able to take on projects large and small. We are able to design/build large-scale commercial projects such as complete restaurants and bars or interiors for a hotel remodel, while we also enjoy opportunities to design a single pieces of custom furniture for the home that will be passed down through generations.
